Create The Most Luxurious Shower Experience

You often hear about how to curate the ultimate bubble bath — but, what if you, like me, are more of a shower person? How do you take the shower process from the quick, more convenient option to something that's just as soothing as — dare I say — a bath? Glad you asked!

I just moved in to a new apartment, and while I'll admit I may be taking a few more baths in the future (this bathroom has a really deep soaker tub) — I'll always consider myself a shower lover.

Given that I'm feeling pretty inspired to take the most luxurious showers ever (moving will do that to you!), I've come up with a few ways to take my shower experience to the next level, and I really think you should give these a go, too!

Here's what you'll need to make your next shower feel more like a trip to the spa:

1. Get Steamy

First things first — make sure you've got the door closed so you can really get the bathroom nice and steamy. That will create a more spa-like experience off the bat. Don't make the rookie mistake of showering with the door cracked!

2. Lighting Is Key

Dim the lights, strike a match and light a candle — or both! The idea is to create the most relaxing environment possible, and you're not going to be able to do so with bright lighting in the bathroom.

3. Consider The Soundscape

Set yourself up for greatness in terms of a soundscape. Cue up some calming music, low key music you can vibe to or whatever you're in the mood for. If you'd prefer no music — that's OK, too. Simply soaking up the silence can work wonders for getting you in a more calm state, too.

4. Exfoliate

The Rough With The Smooth, $10.95, Lush Cosmetics

In-shower exfoliation is quite the treat, especially since it's not always a step you've got time for. But, if you're really taking the time to make your shower feel special, you'll want to use your favorite facial and body scrubs to exfoliate your bod from head to toe.

5. After The Shower Matters, Too

Lavender Blossom Body Oil, $24, Mullein & Sparrow

Just because the shower's over doesn't mean the pampering has ended. Oh no — in a way, it's only just begun. Taking the time to use oil (such as the lavender one above) to moisturize and put a face mask on after the shower (to really take advantage of how open your pores are from the warm water) can feel amazing and allow the relaxation to continue.

6. Invest In A Quality Robe

Terry Wrap Dress, $110, Lady Lay

And last, but certainly not least — I'd highly recommend investing in a robe that's going to be comfy, cozy and easy to lounge around in bed in. Because let's be real — you're going to go straight from the shower to the bed anyways — and you might as well be cute, comfy and cozy while you're at it. The brand Lady Lay makes robes that are chic enough to go outside in if you had to — from this wrap dress one featured above to ones that look like trench coats. So, take your pick and step your post-shower game up a notch!

So, who's ready for a shower now?

And if you're looking for a cocktail to take into the shower with you — give any of these recipes a try!
