NYC Guide: Dinner & Desserts

One thing to note about the Labels and Lacquer girls is that we love to travel and we love to eat. So when in New York City, we find the best spots to grub down in. We don't want to brag but desserts are our speciality too!

We enjoyed every moment of hoping from subway to subway to get to our next eating destination. If you're in NYC or planning a trip, pencil these places into the to-do list!

NYC summers are HOT, HOT, HOT. So, when you’re doing a day of sight-seeing, it’s important to treat yourself to a cold treat. That’s exactly why the L&L girls stopped in for some shaved ice and a popsicle.

We visited the People’s Pops location inside Chelsea Market. I got a blueberry jasmine-flavored popsicle and Darby got blueberry shaved ice (that they literally shaved off of a block of ice in front of us).

It was just the kind of refreshing pick-me-up we needed!

We are avid watchers of Unique Eats and Unique Sweets. As soon as we found out we were going to New York, literally the first thing we did was look up all the New York episodes of these shows! We found this little gem in Brooklyn thanks to the show. It's called Pies n' Thighs, the food is exactly like the title. They make fried chicken and pies. Being the southern belles we are in, when you're in New York you still miss a little Southern cooking. Augusta ordered a spicy fried chicken biscuit. I got chicken and waffles. For dessert we both opted for the peach cobbler. This place is a must-eat!!!!

Yes we have seen all the insane milkshakes on Instagram too. Unfortunately, the wait to get seated was going to be two hours in the NYC heat. It was too hot for us to wait in line, but we still got to-go milkshakes. The milkshakes were still delicious, we just didn't have all the exciting toppings. I got a Oreo Cookies n' Cream shake and Augusta got the U' Bet Chocolate shake.

My advice is get ready to wait in line!

This is where I chose to go to for my (Darby) 21st birthday. I have seen all the crazy goblet candy drinks and I wanted to get just that on my big day. The food and the drinks were so good. We got the White Gummi Drink to split. The drinks are worth all the hype! It was filled with sugary goodness and gummy worms. I kept it simple with dinner and got chicken fingers while Augusta got a burger. Everything was really good!

After a long day the first day Augusta arrived, we were tired and starving. Side Car hit the spot with yummy burgers and fries. If you are near Prospect Park and craving a good burger, this is the place for you.

We dropped by for some cookies and then discovered you can get cookie sandwiches from here! Augusta picked M&M cookies and chose cookies n' cream ice-cream to go in between. I got one M&M cookie and one Snickerdoodle cookie with Birthday Bash ice-cream in between. You can't go wrong with cookies and ice-cream!

Augusta researched where to get the best pizza in Brooklyn. Juliana's was on the list. We ordered a pizza special with ozzarella, scamorza affumicata, pancetta (italian bacon), scallions and white truffles in olive oil. It was "molto bene," as you would say in Italian.

8. STK Rooftop Bar

This was actually the spot where I got my first drink for my 21st birthday! Augusta and I both got a Strawberry Cobbler drink. It was delicious. The rooftop bar is located in the Meatpacking District and had beautiful views. I can't think of a better way to experience my first drink than at a posh rooftop bar in New York!
