Travel Beauty Tips: The Labels & Lacquer Getaway Guide

The Labels and Lacquer girls are about to embark on their longest international flight together to date. And considering that we’re going to be in the air for over 14 hours, we’ve given our travel beauty routine a lot of thought.

We’ve already got our outfits planned, naturally because we want to look and feel as good as possible. When it comes to a travel beauty routine, we truly believe that less is more.

We’re planning on wearing little to no makeup, and any makeup that we do wear is going to be lightweight and feel like we’re not wearing anything at all. So, let us walk you through what our routines will look like from pre-departure to arrival in order to help you prepare for any jet-setting you may be doing this spring.

The Hair

OK, so first things first. Your hair, girl. The night we’re going to take a shower and braid our hair while its still damp. Then, in the morning, we’ll have loose waves and not wake up with crazy bed head.

The great thing about this effortless kind of ‘do is that it looks like you spent a while doing your hair when you actually didn’t. Plus, it’ll be comfortable for the flight, and if you start feeling dirty a few hours in, you pull your hair up into a pony or a bun to switch things up on the flight. It’s a great way to get a lot out of your hair in-between showers.

Here's one example of how you can achieve those effortless beachy curls. It's as simple as braid and sleep.

Pre-Flight Makeup

Be sure to wash your face before ever heading to the airport so your skin will feel refreshed. Do a spritz of rosewater to hydrate and replenish. Then, if you’re going to add makeup, make sure it’s not something that will feel heavy on the skin. A long flight is not the time for a dramatic eye look, you know?

Lightly scented with grapefruit, this cleanser will help you start your day off just right.

Soothing Face Mist, $18, Glossier

This will make your skin feel (and smell) amazing.

Perfecting Skin Tint, $26, Glossier

This tinter moisturizer has a super lightweight formula that won't clog your pores or have you feeling like you caked makeup on at any point during the flight.

In-Flight Makeup

While in the air, it’s crucial to have certain things with you: makeup removing wipes to cleanse the skin, oil sheets and travel size rosewater mist. These things are the best way to help you feeling clean since you likely won’t be able to get a good washing in from the tiny airplane bathroom.

We all accumulate oil even on our good days, so have some of these handy on the plane.

Whether you're not wearing makeup or you don't mind removing it halfway throught the flight, these wipes will help you feel more refreshed until you can get to a sink and a wash cloth.

Fill this little guy with rosewater for anytime you need to give your skin a treat.

Throw it in one adorable carrying case and go somewhere far, far away! You deserve a break!
