Make A Batch Of Southern Sausage Gravy & Biscuits To Feed A Crowd

Being born and raised in the south, the Labels and Lacquer girls know good sausage gravy when we taste it. As far as I’m concerned, nobody makes it better than my mom. Anytime I’m home, that’s what I ask her to make for breakfast because any other time I’ve had it— it just doesn’t compare. Since I was home for the holidays, I definitely had my mom make a batch of gravy for me to enjoy while I was in town. Of course, she had a little help from Paula Deen with forming the recipe she uses for this breakfast, but the key ingredient is bacon grease. ¼ cup of bacon grease, to be exact.

With that much pork fat in one dish— it’s definitely a Deen-approved recipe. But, it’s also incredibly delicious.

Check out the recipe so that you can have some good ol’ sausage gravy and biscuits made from scratch. Not just any old gravy and biscuits, either. Go with the best the south has to offer, instead.

Sausage Gravy Recipe:

Ingredients:

-¼ cup bacon grease

-¼ cup all purpose flour

-2 cups milk

-1 package ground sausage, cooked and crumbled

-Salt and pepper to taste

Steps:

-Melt the bacon grease in a skillet.

-Whisk in flour and then milk until thickened.

-Add in the crumbled sausage.

Pour that over some biscuits, and you're good to go. You can use this recipe for the biscuits, if you'd like. Overall, this recipe is super simple to make, and it’ll feed an entire crowd of people. So, there’s really no reason not to make up a batch of sausage gravy to slather on top of biscuits anytime you have a lot of tummies to feed. Bon appétit, y'all!
