This Homemade Granola Recipe Will Help Keep You Healthy & Happy In 2017

The Labels and Lacquer girls have been trying to eat much more healthy foods in 2017 — call it a New Year’s Resolution or call it a much needed lifestyle change. So, we’ve been preparing healthy meals throughout the month of January, and there’s one snack recipe that we just had to share.

We decided to try and make our own granola bars instead of shopping around for ones that are actually full of protein and other goodness (without simultaneously being loaded with sugar). We used a recipe from Minimalist Baker as a guide, but we mixed up the ingredient list a bit, and the results were incredible.

Not only were these super easy to make, they’re also super tasty! The recipe only called for five ingredients, some of which you probably already have on-hand!

You can check out exactly what the Minimalist Baker recipe called for, also, but here’s what we decided to use.

Ingredients:

1 cup Almonds

1 cup Dried Cherries

½ cup Oats

½ cup Dark Chocolate Coconut Granola Mix

¼ cup Almond Butter

¼ cup Honey

Yep, that’s all you’ll need to bring this recipe to life! If you’re not a huge fan of cherries, you can swap out any dried fruit, really. Prefer peanut butter to almond butter? That’s fine, too!

After roasting the oats and nuts for a few minutes, it’s really easy to mix everything together.

Mix all of the ingredients and spread these bars out in a pan.

Then, they're ready to pop in the freezer! And bam! They’re ready to enjoy in just 20 mins. See the full step-by-step tutorial from Minimalist Baker!

Once they’re out of the freezer, wrap the bars up in cling wrap and store in an air-tight container. Then, eat them as a healthy snack or lunch alternative. They’re great when you need something a little sweet, but also filling!

This is definitely a recipe we plan on doing weekly because you just can’t beat having a homemade treat on-hand ready to go when you’re feeling hungry. We hope you enjoy them as much as we do!

Here’s to a healthy, happy, yummy 2017!
