Darby's Weekend Guide: Weekends 2 & 3
I will be combining the activities from my second and third weekend in New York in this blog post. I was able to fit in a lot into these two weekends. My second weekend here I had Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday off of my internship. So I really had a 5 day weekend, which just meant more time for exploring.
This is kind of a lot to take in so here is a quick guide to all the places I went in the two combined weekends.

Lotus Café 4119 31st Ave- ordered the classic crépe with nutella, bananas, and strawberries.

Le Pain Quotiedien 550 Hudson St New York, NY- ordered a raspberry lemonade and ham & gruyere croissant.
Saturday:
Like I said in my first weekend in NY post, on Sunday I tried to go to Cookie Do NYC and it was closed. But….. It wasn’t closed on Saturday so I got cookie dough in a cup, and it was pure bliss. The flavor I picked was called “Frosted Fork.” It was a sugar cookie base with ribbons of pink frosting throughout and sprinkles. And how could I forget it was topped with a circus animal cookie. It was amazing! I will definitely be going back there for more cookie dough fun. If you're in New York, GO. If not check them out online!

After cookie dough, my friends and I refueled with something that wasn’t as sweet, french fries from Shake Shack. After Shake Shack it was time to head to 5th Avenue to do some (window) shopping! We went through Grand Central Station to get to 5th avenue. Grand Central is absolutely beautiful. The pictures I took don’t do it justice. If you get to go there look up at the ceiling and you will be able to see the all the star constellations.
I headed to 5th Avenue to see the street named after Bill Cunningham, fashion icon and street-style photographer. I love everything he did in his lifetime, so I wanted to pay respect by seeing his street. After his street sign, I went into Bergdorf Goodman’s just to see everything I couldn’t afford. Haha but it was fun to see all of the amazing designer’s clothing in one place.
On the way back to the station for me to head back home, I found a Christmas year-round store. Yes, they do exist. I was pretty much in heaven shopping for my Christmas ornaments in July. Christmas in July is real, especially in NYC.
Sunday: On Sunday I was a little lazy. I mean it was a Sunday, which is all about relaxing. I did have some work to do, I’m also taking an online summer class for school. So I laid around and mainly watched Netflix. I needed to get my beauty rest, since I knew I had Mon-Wed to do more in NYC. However I did get a delicious burger delivered. Burgers is bed = life goals. Of course I captured the moment in a photo.

Monday:
I started my Monday off in a coffee shop, as every Monday morning should be started off. At Jack’s Stir Brew Coffee I got an iced mocha and a muffin. I’ve never really thought about getting an iced mocha, but it was indeed delicious and I highly recommend it. I worked for a little while in this cute & cozy shop. Then I headed to the New York Public Library to keep working.

The New York Public Library is a huge tourist spot, which I hadn’t really anticipated. It is set up like a museum, but there are quiet zones for people that want to work in there. It was so massive and gorgeous. And yes, this is where Carrie Bradshaw and Mr. Big almost got married. It was a peaceful and beautiful environment to get work done there.
Tuesday:
On Tuesday I started my morning again at a coffee shop, OK Café. I got an iced almond maple latte. It was SOOO GOOD! There was literally maple syrup at the bottom of the cup, so it was nice and sweet. That was definitely the highlight of my day. Then I just headed sort of in the Brooklyn area to do some shopping.

Wednesday:
Wednesday was very exciting because it included crêpes and fabric shopping. I went to Mood Fabrics. I was so excited, as a long time watcher of Project Runway, I’ve dreamed about going into Mood Fabrics. I even saw Swatch the Boston Terrier mascot of the store on his walk in front of the store front. I could only go into the home fabric section, because they were filming Project Runway in the fashion fabric part. Squeals all around!! But I did go into several fabric stores in the garment district which were amazing and I loaded up on the swatches.
4119 31st Ave - Lotus Café I ordered the classic crêpe which had nutella, strawberries, and bananas. I paired the crêpes with an iced Raspberry Swirl coffee, which had raspberry and white chocolate syrup.
Weekend 3:
Weekend 3 was a typical weekend schedule I only had Saturday and Sunday off. But I checked off several of my dream NYC bucket list items.
Saturday: I saw the outside of Carrie Bradshaw’s apartment. Ah it was perfection. I loved the West Village where it is located. It is so cute and there are plenty of shopping and coffee shops. Carrie B wouldn’t have it any other way. Several fabulous shoes have been up and down those stairs. And it was a dream to be right in front of the stoop where so many iconic “Sex and the City” scenes had been shot. Everything from the single girl getting dropped off and her door to Mr. Big picking her up in his limo.
On the cute brownstone filled blocks, I even found where I would want to live. It was just a few apartments down from Carrie. The outside exterior was pink, of course.
After I walked up and down all the streets and passed Carrie’s house a few times, I headed to a cute French bakery for lunch. It was called Le Pain Quotiedien. I got a raspberry lemonade and ham & gruyere croissant. Then I cruised the West Village some more.

Sunday:
On Sunday I went to the MET. As I walked the stairs I couldn't help but think of Gossip Girl and how Queen B had to sit on the highest step. I couldn’t believe it had taken me that long to get here. It was amazing! My main goal was to see the costume exhibition, Manus x Machina Fashion in the Age of Technology, that the Met Gala is centered around. It was breathtaking, all the beautiful extremely detailed garments. All the greats were there Chanel, Givenchy, Dior, Prada, etc It made me feel so alive. The exhibition is up till September 5th, so if you have a chance to go you should. I strolled through the outskirts Central Park and just stopped and picked up a sandwich and a fruit salad.
I had an amazing last two weekends in New York City. There is just so much to do in this city. You can do so much and still not come close to seeing everything. Until another weekend..
